A Safe, Strong and Flexible Building System

All Component Homes steel frames are made from Bluescope Truecore ™ steel, a high tensile material that comes with a 50-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Our exacting standards and computer driven fabrication ensures that every frame is made to measure for steel frame construction with all the necessary holes for routing plumbing and electrics punched or cut as part of the manufacturing process.

Our roll-formed profiles also mean there are no dangerous sharp edges, so handling the frames is much safer.

To maintain the integrity of the steel, our frames are made without any welds. Instead, Component Homes has pioneered the use of modern screw technology common in the automotive industry to create frames of superior and enduing strength.

Strong

Steel is strong, straight and true and ideal for building in cyclonic areas. It does not shrink or warp, so cracks do not appear in walls and ceilings.

Durable

Unlike timber, steel is 100% termite proof, so you don’t have to treat your home with toxic chemicals. Being Bluescope Truecore ™, it is also impervious to rust and corrosion and is backed by a 50 year manufacturer’s guarantee.

Versatile

Steel is an extremely versatile building material that offers an unparalleled level of design flexibility. Steel is particularly suited to difficult site conditions such as sloping blocks.

Lightweight

The average steel frame section is very light but extremely strong; up to 70% lighter than timber. Most panels and trusses can be easily handled and erected by just two people without the use of lifting gear.

Fast

Building a steel-framed home is much faster compared to a similar sized timber or brick home. The frames and trusses for an average house can be erected within a week ready for cladding.

Enviro-Friendly

For the environmentally conscious builder, steel is 100% recyclable. Currently 60% of all steel used in Australia is made from recycled materials. To put steel framing into perspective, the steel used in an average house is roughly equal to 6 family cars, while the use of a timber frame can consume around 40 to 50 trees.

Easy

Building your own home, or managing its construction in steel is a lot easier than you may think. Anyone with basic handy-man skills can do it! You also require fewer tools than any other construction method and we’ll  even supply them if you need them.

Easy for Follow-On Trades

Follow-on trades, such as plumbers and electricians, like working on our steel framed homes. Because they are built to tolerances of only 1mm, all dimensions are true and the pre-punched service holes make their life easy.

Non-Combusitble

A steel frame cannot burn. It will not therefore contribute to a fire or it spreading, and will not release smoke and carbon dioxide. While electrical faults cause many fires in wall cavities, they cannot ignite a steel frame. If fire gets into the ceiling and ignites timber trusses it can spread very rapidly to the rest of the house. In a bushfire the point of ignition is often the roof cavity when burning embers are blown in under the eaves or tiles.
